Maker Faire 2011

I am getting ready for the Maker Faire, which will happen this weekend. I’ll have the ice cream cart again this year, but there is a new twist: I bought a real ice cream cart! Of course, it needed some work. Here is a before shot:

Of course, that’s not what it looks like anymore. 😉  It is presently being outfitted and will make its debut on Saturday. I’ll have kits and cones and popsicles and barrettes. I hope to see you there!

Crafty Wonderland

I’m happy to say that I will be at Portland’s Crafty Wonderland this year! I had a great time during their spring sale last year, and am very excited to be able to go back and visit such a nifty city.

I’ll be at table 45, and will have octopi, cat sticks, and rotten apples in tow. See you there?

WonderCon!

I am so excited to announce that dorklandia will be exhibiting at WonderCon this year! This is happening this weekend, April 1 – 3 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco. I’ll have new things to show, and you can take a chance at winning a tiny octopus from my capsule machine!

Upcoming events!

This Thursday, dorklandia will make an appearance at the California Academy of Sciences Nightlife event! Presented by the lovely folks from the Indie Mart, join me and about 40 other vendors for science, cocktails, and stuffed animals. And, you know, other things too. Here‘s a link!

Next up, I will be heading to LA on Friday morning for the Renegade Craft Fair on Saturday and Sunday! Oh, so exciting! It’s supposed to be warm and sunny both days, and the event is in a park. Details here, if you are in the LA area please stop by and say hello!

As a bonus, if you come to my table and teach me how to say “octopus” in another language, you get a free dorklandia sticker! 🙂

Crafty Wonderland!

Dorklandia is traveling to Portland this weekend for Crafty Wonderland. Oh boy!

If you live in or near Portland, please stop by and say hi!

Five Ton Crane!

I’m excited to be a part of Five Ton Crane’s first First Friday in Oakland tomorrow night. Come and see art made by the amazing people behind The Raygun Gothic Rocketship and The Steampunk Treehouse.

Neat people, cool stuff, and a West Oakland warehouse. Join us!

Noise Pop n Shop!

Come to the Noise Pop n Shop event next Saturday! It’s at the very-swanky Verdi Club in San Francisco. The Slow Club is just across the street, so have brunch and come on over. Mmm, brunch at the Slow Club. Should be a fun show.

Upcoming Show!

I’m happy to say that I will be a part of the Noise Pop Pop n Shop this year. It’s going to be held at the Verdi Club in San Francisco, on Saturday, February 27. Hope to see you there!

This is part of the excellent Noise Pop Festival, which probably now qualifies for the word “venerable.” So many great bands, new movies, and all sorts of fun. I’ve loved it every year I’ve lived in this town. This year, I’m most excited about !!!, Mark Kozelek, Paula Frazier, and the Magnetic Fields. And Atlas Sound. And, wow, Yoko Ono. I saw Yoko Ono in New York a really long time ago, and while I don’t consider myself a fan, exactly, she is an amazing performer.

I’m pretty excited about this show, as Oakland and the Crucible are both very dear to me. There will be lots of cool things to see and do, and a bunch of amazing folks. I’m also really looking forward to finally eating at the Liba falafel truck. Oooh, I’ve been waiting so long to start my falafel affair! Hope you can make it!

Also coming up this weekend is the San Francisco Bazaar Bizarre. I don’t have a table there this year, but it’s a great event and you should check it out if you’re around.

In other news, the Renegade Craft Fair in Chicago was incredible. A record 53 octopi found new homes, plus some snowmen and owl bags. In fact, I sold everything I brought and nearly ran out of business cards + buttons! Thank you Chicago, and thanks to Danny and Sue for this great show. It’s going to be in San Francisco on the 19th +20th, but I’ll be out of town. Still, pretty darned exciting.

Back to crocheting for me!
